Philosophy of P.S. 413
P.S. 413 is a new community elementary school in District 20 that will serve all students in grades K-5 with a focus on law and medicine. Starting the 2024 school year, we will begin by severing only Kindergarten students.
At P.S. 413, we believe in an inclusive educational approach where "All Means All." We are committed to meeting the diverse needs of every student, ensuring that they not only achieve but also excel in their academic journey. Our educational philosophy is rooted in providing equitable and rigorous instruction that aligns with the Next Generation Learning Standards.
We understand the uniqueness of each learner and cater to a wide spectrum of abilities and interests. Students who require additional support will receive targeted support through small group instruction, ensuring they gain the necessary skills to succeed. Meanwhile, students performing at or above grade level are continually challenged through our rigorous classroom instruction.
For students with learning needs, we provide specialized support as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEP), emphasizing a tailored educational experience that promotes maximum inclusivity and achievement. We offer freestanding English as a New Language (ENL) services to support the language development of English language learners, ensuring that all students receive the personalized support they need to succeed.
In addition to core academics, P.S. 413 places a strong emphasis on enrichment activities. These are thoughtfully chosen based on students' interests and needs, allowing each child to explore and develop their passions and talents. Whether through the arts or other enrichment programs, we strive to create opportunities that spark intellectual curiosity and personal growth.
Our commitment extends beyond traditional academics, embracing a holistic approach that prepares students for lifelong learning and success. At P.S. 413, we nurture not just scholars, but also citizens of the world, equipped to contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond.
